Question: Severe sprained ankle- swelling 7 days- bruising getting worse- in a orthopedic boot- numbness in toes- push on the swelling and it has long lasting indents in the skin. Need help

Ankle sprains require non weight bearing rest for atleast 2 weeks. Don't apply weight to that foot.

Keep the limb elevated over 2 pillows. Continue applying ice to the painful and swollen area. Roll up an elastic crepe bandage from the foot to the mid leg.

The numbness shall subside as the swelling subsides.

Get an Xray to look for any associated fracture.

After 10 days you can do tip toe weight bearing as tolerated by you.
