Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up.
There are many groups of medication which are able to help in anxiety disorders. SSRI group of medications (sertraline, escitalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine, fluvoxamine) are first choice.
SNRI group of medications are equally effective which includes venlafaxine, desvenlafaxine, and duloxetine.
TCAs (amitryptiline, nortryptiline, clompiparamine, doxepin.....) are used in resistant cases although they are equally effective with cost of side effects.
Other medications include benzodiazepines, b blockers and buspirone.
The duration of treatment may last from six weeks to years depending on the severity, response to medications and comorbid factors.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
