Suggest Treatment For Severe Anxiety

Question: I was told I was having sever panic and anxiety because of pre menopause. I also was sent to talk to a psychologist who I have been seeing since XXXXXXX of last year. She does not see any depression or even anxiety from my mental state. I also had low magnesium, potassium and vitamin D. The D is still low and the Mag. and Pots. are better with supplements. The low levels do not add up for me with pre menopause.
Moving forward now my Rheumatoid factor is 36. The Dr. wants me to start cymbalta until I can see the hematologist. Also I am taking .35 of norethindrone and 50mg of hydroxyzine. My question is why should I continue to take Norethindrone if my issues are infact not from menopause. And should I start cymbalta before seeing the rheumatologist. I also have interstitial cystitis and 2 past suggestive levels of EBV. This past year I had sever reactions to to SSRI and a inhaler and I'm also allergic to alot of anibiotics.

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

I think Cymbalta is an excellent medication to treat anxiety -- but I would wait until seeing the rheumatologist before starting it. They may be able to run blood tests that can give more information about an organic reason for anxiety that might be treated by, say, removing the norethindrone medication. If the rheumatologist clears you, then I would start Cymbalta.
