Question: hurt neck n back in accident 10 years ago...pain management dr. had me on fentanyl for 5 years...pain level about a 5 most of the time.then changed me to methadone. started out 20 mg in am and 20 mg in pm...now it's 40 mg in am and 40 mg in pm.. pain level gone to a 6 or 7 now. I am female 120 lbs, age 50...How much more methadone can I take ???? is there something better now on the market ?Please advise...XXXX

Hi, u can take upto 150 mg methadone per day.
There is nothing new in the market regarding the drugs but you can surely ask your physician to combine two diff opioid or adjuvants with opioid so that you may not have to take maximum dose of any drug and avoid side effects.
Combine fentanyl with morphine or methadone or get acetaminophen or diclofenac or taramadol or drugs like pregabalin or gaba pentin oe amitryptilline to your drug regimen.
