Question: I have been down in my back since Friday with so much pain that I needed help just to get out of bed, I have only urinated about 6 times. I have degenerative disc disease. Is this symptoms of DDD or could it be a kidney infection ? I am also diabetic.

Brief Answer:
This seems to be your old spine degeneration bothering you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to HealthCareMagic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.

In my opinion this is clearly your spine issue which has gotten aggravated due to some reason this can be a recent inflammation , lifting of a heavier weight than you should h or a bad posture

Kidney issues don't really cause you this much difficulty getting off bed.
In current situation you are expected to be needing checkup by a doctor as this might need a medicine change or probably some work up and pain killer shots.

Till you get checked up there are a few things which you can do at home this might make you feel better sooner.

1) Take good rest do not get off bed without real urgency.
2) Warm compressing of the area of pain will help loosen up the tissues.Do it thrice a day.
3) Take Ibuprofen 400mg thrice a day this will help with pain and also with inflammation.
4) If you have abdominal band / belt you should use it.
5) Rubbing NSAID cream like viltral gel can help symptoms get better earlier
These measure are expected to help you but in this condition getting a medical checkup is more beneficial and this might save you from long term complications in future.

I hope this answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it.
