Suggest Treatment For Severe Back Pain In A Diabetic

A back pain, left side just unde the ribs. At first I thought it was a muscle but now 6 weeks later it is not any better. No pain when I am standing
But within 10 minutes of sitting moderate to semi intense pain only relived by shifting position and that only helps for a second. Once I stand it's sore. When I press 5it's sore. Kidney stone? I am a 64 year old male 6' 235lf type 2 diabetic glucose under control. Thoughts?
Uncontrolled diabetes seemingly unrelated to this pain.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concern. It is definitely not due to kidney stones. However, it could be due to either costochondritis or gastroesophageal reflux/gastritis. A clinical examination is needed for confirmation. The exact location of the pain is important. It is also important to evaluate if the pain overlies the hard structure of ribs and that would imply costochondritis.
I would insist you to visit a doctor to get it evaluated.
I would need more information about your diabetes to be able to comment on it. However, a blood sugar level of 235 mg/dl is certainly high and would indicate lack of control over your diabetes.

Lft where the ribbs end...where the kidney is. Nowhere near the sternam .
Kidneys do not seem to be affected.
Detailed Answer:
Yes, costochondritis affects the cartilagenous portion of lower ribs and not near the sternum. The kidneys are located at the back, in the loins and hence are not related.

Clinical examination required
Detailed Answer:
Back pain could also be due to spasm of back muscles. Since you are apprehensive, I would insist you to visit a doctor and to get yourself clinically examined. Unfortunately that cannot be done online.
