Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to know more about your chest pain:

- Is it modulated by body movements or respiration? This could indicate possible musculo-skeletal pain or inflammation.
- Do you have any other symptoms like dizziness, shortness of breath, etc.?
- Is it related to eating? This could indicate possible gastritis or gastro-esophageal reflux.
- Do you have cardiovascular risk factors like hypertension, diabetes, smoking, dyslipidemia, etc.?

I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and performing some tests to investigate for the possible causes:

1- a chest X ray study
2- a resting ECG
3- some blood lab tests (complete blood count, inflammation tests, PCR, sedimentation rate, kidney and liver function tests)
4- A cardiac stress test may be needed if suspicions of possible coronary artery disease are raised.

If suspicions of a gastro-esophageal reflux or gastritis are raised, a fibrogastroscopy may be needed.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
