Question: i took citrizine and paracetamol last night, kept sleeping till afternoon.
I have cold, cough and body pain. cough is not severe. but area under my eyes hurt a little bit.
I went to a physician and bought cheston cold. he gave me 3 tablets. One i took after having lunch. My friend suggested that I should take an antibiotic too with it after dinner.
what should i do?
antibiotic is Amoxyclav 625(amoxycyllin & potassium clavulanate tablets)
I am not sure that if the cheston cold i am taking contains citrizen and paracetamol contents in it or not because the physician cut it in the way that only expiry date is visible only.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Most often the mentioned symptoms occur due to viral infections. The medicines are proper and you can continue to take them. The contents of Cheston Cold are not something that are supposed to get affected by the expiry date. An expiry date is rather like a warranty period. The warranty on a watch may be valid for a year. That means the company bears the responsibility for anything that might go wrong during this period. It does not mean that the product will stop working or turn harmful at the expiry of the mentioned period. It just means that the company will stop accepting responsibility of the product. For the given medicine it is not really a cause for concern. You need not worry.

Antibiotics are ineffective in viral infections and unless you have got your blood tested and your blood counts are high, you should not take antibiotis like Amoxyclav.

Respected sir

Thanks for the clarification. So what do you suggest? Should I take any paracetamol and citrizen with cheston cold tablet tonight or should i take only cheston cold tablet?

Brief Answer:
Individual ingredients preferred

Detailed Answer:
I would prefer paracetamol to be taken only if the temperature is raised, and cetirizine once a day. It is no use taking all the stuff in Cheston Cold each time you get fever.
