Suggest Treatment For Severe Constipation And Pain
He is very fussy about taking medicines, throws up whatever we give, giving him Laxitol syrup 10 ml twice daily mixing in bottle milk ( so he is not able to find out) for last one week but no help. Tried giving Cremaffin, he doesnt take this medicine. Dr also prescribed digestive enzyme syrup but he doesnt take.
It is almost impossible to give him medicines, forcefully we give him but he holds in mouth for upto one hour or two hours and then spits out. This habit he has adopted since last 6 to 8 months. Pls help and prescribe solution. And what could be the cause of this chronic constipation. Or any tests are required to be done. We give him fruits, veg, enough water also.
He had no problem till he was 2 years old and was on breast feed. After two years breast feeding is stopped and he takes bottled milk about three times a day. One Dr told milk also causes constipation in children, so we tried reducing the milk intake by giving him milk diluted with water once or twice a day. but this also was of no help
Fiber rich diet needs to be given.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic. Incidentally, constipation in children has become a very frequently encountered problem these days. The primary reason for the same is lack of adequate play and/or the lack of adequate amounts of fiber containing foods in diet.

You need to give a fibre rich diet. Wheat, corn, and rice XXXXXXX are high in insoluble fiber, which helps prevent constipation. XXXXXXX can be sprinkled into his favorite foods, from hot cereal and pancakes to muffins and cookies. Many popular high-fiber cereals and bars are also packed with XXXXXXX Beans really are the magical fruit. Isabgol (psyllium husk) or senna can also be given as fiber supplements.
Also consider going through the following list:

It is good to know that you make sure that he drinks plenty of water. But you also need to ensure that he goes to pass stool at a regular time every day (irrespective of whether he feels an urge to pass). This will demote stool holding habits and would promote regular bowel habits.
I have not suggested any medication and so giving medicines would not be something that you need to worry about. I would insist you to try to restrict milk intake. Problems in digesting milk proteins could also lead to constipation. Enzyme supplements do not help and hence I would not insist on giving them. I would rather insist you to refrain from medicines.
Let me know if I could help further.

Regarding food though he is fussy, but we try to give him fruits, vegetables, non veg, wheat roti, upma etc. Though his food intake is not as we would like him to, but i feel it is okay.
Does he has any deficiency? or Any tests required yo be done?.
I would like to add that about four months ago he suffered from Dengue and has not taken tonics Drs prescribed. After that he suffered from leg fracture due to which his leg was plastered and most of the time was in sitting position, that the first time we noticed his severe constipation.
Though i would incorporate your suggestions, i request you to pls suggest some medicine for the time being( Odourless and Colourless), otherwise he would not take, considering his severity of the problem.
Request you to pls advise. Thanks.
You need not worry.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I do not think that any testing is needed. The mentioned information is not indicative of any deficiencies.
No intake of tonics is needed for dengue. Let me tell you that other than provide peace of mind, tonics do not do any real good.
I do not think that he requires any medicines at all. So, I would not like to prescribe any medicines.
