Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Frequent Urination While On Coversyl

My wife took Coversyl 2 mg for a few week and had some bad cough constantly and a little more frequent of urination ( to bath room). Our family doctor recommends changing prescription to Diovan 40 mg. She stopped taking Coversyl for the last three days, the symptom seems going away, think the cough was caused by Coversyl. She plans to take the new prescription ( Diovan 40 mg ) the next day or so. Can you suggest what side effect she may expect on Diovan. Thank you. XXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello ! Thank you for using HCM.
I have gone through your question and I understand your concern.
Ita very good that your family doctor changed the medication (Coversyl) to Diovan , it's the right choise.
Diovan is a ARB ( Angotensine 2 receptor antagonist) group of drug it's the drug we start if the patient have side effect after using ACEI group of drug (Coversyl) .
These drugs are different group and does not mean that will the same side effect .
Here are some side effect that if your wife have she has to go to your family doctor to change it.:
-Difficult breathing , swelling in the finger , face or lower legs
-Dizziness,fainting,or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying position.
-bloody urine, cold sweats, confusion, lower back pain, nause, vomiting, increased thirst, irregular heartbeat, decreased frequency or amount of urine,
-nervousness ,unusual tiredness or weakness.Numbness or tingling .
The side effect does not mean that she will have it but if she has one of these above should stop the medication and call the treating doctor .
Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if you have any further clarifications, I will be happy to help.
Take Care !
