Question: I have had a cough for several weeks saw my doctor took antibiotics, better for a week now very bad cough, 100.4 degree fever that won't break for two days. Thick green mucus and body aches. I am asthmatic and using Flovent and proventil. Still very short of breath. I teach 3/4 year olds, yes I have been exposed to everything imaginable.

Brief Answer:
you'd better contact your doctor again

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

your history of asthma predisposes you to more serious outcomes with respiratory tract infections. Shortness of breath can be attributed to either to asthma worsening or to the infection itself (pneumonia or other serious disorders). In any of the aforementioned cases a new assessment if required. If the inhaled drugs are not sufficient to provide relief then nebulized drugs may have to be utilized. Your doctor can determine the need for such action by clinical examination and measurement of oxygen saturation. If it's pneumonia then shortness of breath is a very good reason for hospitalization. The green mucus and body aches are common during the course of respiratory tract infections.

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) should help with the body aches and malaise. I would advise against aspirin and ibuprofen unless absolutely necessary.
