Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough

Question: Sir i am suffering from heavy cough. whole of my chest got burnt while coughing. i also get vomits due to heavy cough. pls suggest for medicine..

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
In my opinion you should get done Chest x ray to rule out lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI).
If this is normal than probably you are having upper respiratory tact infection (URTI).
Start following treatment.
1. Drink plenty of fluids.
2. Avoid oily, spicy food.
3. Warm saline gargles 5-6 times a day.
4. Start macrolide group of antibiotic.
5. Start antihistamines and anti inflammatory drug twice daily.
6. Syrup containing cough suppressants. Thrice daily.
7. Take proton pump inhibitors and anti emetic twice daily on empty stomach.
So visit your doctor and get investigations done.
