Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea, Abdominal Pain And Cramps While On Methotrexate

Question: Have had diarrhea and severe pain and cramping for 2 weeks. Was in ER yesterday Ana was told the result of the cat scan and blood work were normal...all the doc prescribed were pain meds and a soft diet.
I began taking methotrexate and placqunil approx 2 weeks ago... Have been off both now for a week but pain and diarrhea still present...what more can I do

At least 6 times a day
Semi solid and watery
Mucus
Not without pain and diarrhea
No vomiting
Have lupus and RA
Am on Wellbrutrin, Lexipro, Toprol (for mitral valve ), synthroid,biest, progesterone
No other symptoms

Hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following measures to ease your problem:

> Take lots of fluids( water, juices)
> Take Metronidazole thrice a day for 3 days
> Take ecobion sachets once a day for 3 days

> Foods that should help include:
- Boiled potatoes
- Toast
- Plain crackers such as saltines
- Baked chicken without any skin or fat

AVOID:
- Milk, butter, ice cream, and cheese
- fatty food
- Alcohol and caffeine drinks
- Foods that cause excess gas like cabbage, beans, broccoli, and cauliflower

Hopefully you will see improvement in few days and you will be able to go with normal daily routine.
