Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea And Nausea
Unfortunately these are contagious but meanwhile are selflimiting
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at Healthcaremagic.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
The fact that you have had vomiting and diarrhea soon after a meal means that very likely you got a viral infection that has caused it. These infections are generally contagious. On the other hand they are self limiting, which means they are not dangerous and heal well in a few days. Infants are a little more susceptible but on the other hand if you are breastfeeding them they are already getting some immunity from you.
I would recommend you to watch the hygiene with washing hands with warm water and soap at least 20 seconds every time you use the toilet and try to avoid touching their food these coming days (if you prepare solids for them)- if someone else at home can help with that might be very good. If this is not possible, than i would recommend you to wash hands also before touching their food.
Very likely your children will not get the symptoms but even if they do, please make sure they get hydrated well- these are self limiting infections in children also as long as they are well hydrated.
Make sure you drink plenty meanwhile and rest as much as you can. Many medications are not recommended to be taken especially if you are breastfeeding and also it is recommended to not use medications against diarrhea if you can be home but only ORS (oral re-hydration solutions) and enterogermina. Make sure you eat frequent small amount of food and fluids during the day. BRAT diet is good (banana, rice, apple, toast) and avoid milk and fried food for a few more days.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your question but please feel free to write back in case more clarification is needed on this.
Kind regards,
