Suggest Treatment For Severe Dizziness In A Hypertensive Person

Question: I have been taking blood pressure medicine for two weeks now..lately my blood pressure has been great when I wake up..I only take 1/4 of a 25 mg tablet..since I am taking such a small dose can I stop the meds? I have been taking it ever other day and my blood pressure still remains low...I was told to take the meds because during an echo they reported that I have systolic dysfunctional at level 2 ..my crap has been high too with my homocysteine at 13.5 and crap at 4.5 .. I feel pretty good without the meds but with the meds I have had 3 episodes of dizziness ..could this be a misreading..interpreted wrong? I work out everyday for 30-45 minutes on elliptical and bike..I am surprised by this diagnosis..I do have a slight mitral valve prolapse.. But they say I need to take the blood pressure meds..my blood pressure was 101/62 last night..thank you for your advice...

Brief Answer:
Stop Betablockers.

Detailed Answer:
Hi There,
Thank you for asking your query.

One fourth dose is a non optimal dose and is not going to have any effect on your blood pressure.
So yes if your blood presure is in control then stop it.
Systolic grade 2 dysfunction is reversible and its not neccesary that medications are always required.Your age is 60 years almost mild systolic dysfunction may be due to stiffened heart muscles due to age.Another possibility is that as echo is manual test so some time reading depends on quality of machine used,Window of patient, and expertise of technician.

101/62 is definitely low blood pressure. In fact betablockers are contra indicated at blood pressure less then 100mm of hg systolic.

Advice-
Stop all anti hypertensives you are on.
Keep a record of blood pressure twice daily for next week.
Keep on doing your exercises and follow healthy food plan.

Thanks!
