Posted on Thu, 23 Mar 2017
Question: I am extremely exhausted and cannot get out of bed sometimes for 18 hours. Then I will get up and struggle to do anything at all than I have to lay down again. I have seen blood after a bowl movement on and off for the last month. I have also been having minor discomfort in my pelvic area. I am a 51 year old woman and weigh 320lbs.
I have an appointment set up to see my doctor on the 17th. Do you think I could have colon cancer?

Brief Answer:
Very unlikely to be cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query,
Colon cancer is a major diagnosis and can be confirmed only after investigations like Colonoscopy and Biopsy.
Blood in stools can be a presenting symptom most of the gastro intestinal tract problems extending from commonly occuring hemorrhoids,Polyps to rarely seen Cancers.
Following investigation are a must before providing you with a valid professional advice-
Colonoscopy.
Stool test for occult blood.
Digital rectal examination and Proctoscopic examination.
Complete blood count
As for your weekness most like its due to anemia,As you are loosing blood off and on from many months most likely you are anaemic by now.Fatigue, malaise, lassitude are all commonly seen in anaemic patients.
There should be a sudden change of bowel habits[Loose stools or constipation],which does not respond to medications is usually common in presenting history of colon cancer patient.Just having mild pain in abdomen with blood in stool off and on does not make a candidate for carcinoma.

As per your question most likely its not cancer. However exact diagnosis can be reached only after investigations.

keep calm.
You will be fine soon!

Regards
