Suggest Treatment For Severe Fatigue, Lightheadedness And Upper Abdominal Pain

default
Posted on Wed, 13 Jul 2016
Question: Hi I'm debating going in to see my primary care physician but I've been having severe nausea, extreme fatigue and lightheadedness for about three weeks now and it's gradually getting worse. It's a sharp stabbing pain in the center of my upper abdomen, anytime I stand up (even slowly) I get extremely lightheaded and somewhat dizzy, I've had the urge to pass more bowel movements than normal, and I'm not sure if this is relevant but my last period which just finished two days ago was a lot heavier than normal; I was clotting a LOT and had really bad cramps. At first I dismissed the symptoms thinking it was related to PMS, but now that the symptoms are still lingering it's starting to worry me. I find it difficult to concentrate - I'm having trouble driving and even doing my computer job. I feel like if I close my eyes for just a few seconds I'm going to pass out. I have not made any drastic lifestyle changes - I eat generally healthy, I exercise every day and I drink more than the recommended intake of water. I'm not sure what's wrong.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to postural hypotension

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

Extreme light headedness while assuming standing posture is likely to be due to postural Hypotension ( there is fall in blood pressure while standing due to many causes ).
As you mentioned that you had blood clots during this periods , presence of any blood clots is abnormal and denotes excessive bleeding ( Menstrual blood never clotts if the flow is normal ). This could explain the cause of your postural hypotension: Excessive blood loss during menses.

I would suggest you the following

1. Ensure adequate intake of fluids

2. Avoid hypoglycaemia by consuming meals regularly

3. Before you assume standing posture, exercise your limbs , raise them a bit and then slowly assume standing posture

4. Start Hematinics containing Iron and Multivitamin supplements

5. Avoid prolonged sitting : If you experience light headedness , then lie down for sometime , have a glass of fruit juice and then slowly stand up.

Do consult your gynaecologist if you experience clotting again.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you

Take Care

Best Regards

Hi and thank you for your response.

Like I said though, these symptoms have been going on for three weeks...they commenced two weeks prior to my period. Is this still a probable condition despite this? And what about the stabbing pain in the upper abdomen and chronic nausea?
