Suggest Treatment For Severe Fever In An Elderly Person While On Tylenol

default
Posted on Fri, 29 Jul 2016
Question: Hi...I'm the wife. My husband, 72yo, has had a fever with no other symptoms since 6/24. It goes up to all levels up to 101...then down to almost normal or normal. His appetite is small, but he keeps drinking liquids and has a cool towel on his neck and forehead. I had been giving him Tylenol, but this morning his fever was gone, so he didn't have any medicines. ???

Brief Answer:
Provide a 24hours record of his temperature charting!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what your husband is going through. I will like to obtain a complete 24hours temperature monitoring every 3hours to tell what the pattern is and wether it suggests and infection or not. Also, i will be able to tell what possible germs type can give such variations.

To upload an image of the report, click on the upload icon to the right of your dashboard and follow the onscreen instructions. You may also send it directly to customer service at YYYY@YYYY and request that it should be uploaded to your query.

I hope to hear from you and promise to respond promptly. Until next, I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
Monitor only!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this detailed temperatures monitoring.

I have reviewed it and this seems to have been a transient occurrence. Unless it is persisting, there is nothing to worry further. This is typical of upper respiratory tract infections and viral infections. Resolution is often spontaneous and require no specific management plan. Tylenol alone is often sufficient without need for any specialized care.

Keep me posted about this.
