Suggest Treatment For Severe Flatulence And Abdominal Pain Due To Excessive Farting

Question: Dear doctors,
i don't know how often do people fart a day, but for me, it certainly is an issue, which bothers me for quite a long time. It seems my bowel is extremely sensitive, i try to avoid any food consists beans (including coffee) or potatos etc, as those food create enormous amount of gas. When i am dinning out, i also tend to avoid raw food (sashimi) and cold drinks, because sometimes room temperature water can trigger it quite easily, too.
As you know, it can be quite embarrased to fart in public, especially when it is unacceptably stinky and loud, in particular, one fart triggers more to come, there's no end sometimes. Howver, if i try to hold in, instead of let it go, it will make me feel uncomfortable for a while, then usually gross diarrhea afterwards.
In addition, sometimes after having a meal, some food probably create lots of gas again, and it might be locked in somewhere in my intestine causing a lot of pain, the pain will not release until the gas is released.
Well , i know it's definitely irretating to read all that, but i really need help, these kind of situation almost happen on daily basis, unless i don't eat or drink much. In some extreme cases, i kept farting for more than 30 times when i am trying to sleep, in many cases, my family cannot tolerate it either.
I am a generally healthy teenager, i don't have gastritis or other health problems, the only condition i have is chronic urticaria which is irrelevant i believe, oh, btw, i had a surgery on Hirschsprung's disease when i was born, but that was ages ago and i was recovered well when i was little.
Anyway, thank you for your patience, if you have any suggestion or advice please let me know, because i don't even know which department to visit when i go to the hospital, you don't just ask "i have an issue with farting too much"......
But if you have seen some similar cases before and might know what the problem is with my body, then it would be fantastic news to me, at least i will have some clue XD

Yours sincerely, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Gastroenterologist to consult;following advice....

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Indeed, you are having a medical problem that I think it should be resolved through following steps:
- discuss with your physician (gastroenterologist) to run malabsorption/intolerance test/infections
- upper endoscopy to rule out gastritis or other problems with stomach hyperacidity
- stool examination for ova/parasites and stool culture to rule out candida infection (especially if you have been taking antibiotics prior to symptoms start)
- eat often and small portions
- avoid using straws for drinking
- consume more water
- avoid foods containing gluten, lactose (e.g. dairies); banana, broccoli, etc.
- take simethicone to reduce gas
- take antacids after meal to reduce hyperacidity

Hope it was of help!
