Detailed Answer:
Welcome to the HCM,
Thank you for your question,I am Dr.Maheshwari.
I have gone through your husband's history, it seems that he is having severe form of factor V leiden deficiency with recurrent thrombosis. Management of this anomaly depends on the clinical circumstances. He is already on blood thinners and anticoagulants, which are given for varying amount of time, depending on patient's situation. Looking at current situation, your husband may need long term anticoagulants under the supervision of vascular surgeon and haematologist.
As Haematologist consultation may be needed because taking anticoagulants for long period may have its own risk of increased INR ratio, which may cause risk of haemorrhages and strokes if not controlled under supervision of doctor. Thus long term anticoagulation could be the only option to prevent further surgery but with recurrent and close followup with your treating doctor.
Also he may use home remedies for blood thinning purpose, like having bitter gourd juice daily, leafy vegetable soups and beetroot and spinach mix juice 2 to 3 times a week.
Hope I answered your question. Please feel free to ask further .
Regards, Dr.Maheshwari
