Brief Answer:
Urinary tract infection, kidney stone, hernia, ultrasound

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

Pubic pain and described urinary symptoms are compatible with a urinary tract infection .
It is imperative to exclude the presence of kidney stones that could cause intermittent pain and such urinary symptoms too.

Does he have any swelling at the groin areas? Pain with swelling at groin region could be suggestive of inguinal hernia.

I think he imoeratively deserves a proper clinical review from doctor, urine tests to rule out infection and an abdominal ultrasound to check for any possible kidney stones.

Thanks and kind regards as I wish him a rapid recovery.
