Posted on Tue, 28 Mar 2017
Question: I have had severe groin pain for several years and is not related to injury. Tests such as X-rays and MRIs have shown nothing. It's gotten to the point that walking is very painful. There is constant throbbing 24 hrs a day. I exercise regularly including hip stretching. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Visit orthopedic surgeon.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

If their is constant throbbing pain throughout the day then you should take rest and don't do any type of exercise.

Although you have explained that your MRI scan is normal, but I still advise you to have orthopaedic surgeon visit as he may your physical examination also, as I don't know whether you have visit general practitioner or orthopedic surgeon.

Some conditions of hip which can't be judge on normal MRI can be judged by clinical examination by specialist e.g labral tear etc

If it is a labral tear, those show up better on an arthrogram and not a regular MRI. It is an MRI with contrast XXXXXXX

You my also visit physiotherapy centre, where your physiotherapist would apply you IFT and TENS therapy, but again go there only after consulting orthopedic surgeon.

You can take tab.aceclofenac100mg+thiocolchicosie4mg twice a day by prescription of your family doctor as this is not over the counter.

I hope you have got the point.

Thanks,

Dr.CHANDER XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

I have seen several orthopedist and none can diagnose the problem. I have tried everything you suggest with no results. Could it be nerve damage?

Brief Answer:
Nerve damage pain start from back to front.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It may be nerve problem but for that, pain must origionate from back to front and. there is numbness also.

You should ask you orthopedic surgeon for labral tear also, for which arthrogram is required.
