Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to health care magic.I can understand your concern.
Alopecia occurring in patches is known as alopecia areata.
It is an autoimmune disease and exact cause is not known. At times it can be extensive leading to total hair loss of scalp, eyebrows. This condition is known as alopecia totalis.
Treatment for alopecia areata is long term.It can respond to topical steroid lotions, tacrolimus, oral biotin supplement and at times oral steroids.I will advise you to consult a dermatologist since all these treatment require long term follow up.
I hope this will help you.In case of any concern I will be happy to help you.Thanks.Take care.
