Androgenetic alopecia with Telogen Effluvium
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for writing to us again at healthcaremagic
I have answered you previous query too, so Hello again!!
I have reviewed your previous photographs as well as your recent prescription.
In my previous discussion with you I had kept a possibility of Androgenetic Alopecia and told you that Minoxidil and finasteride have US FDA approval for use in Androgenetic Alopecia.
Going by your prescription I can see that you have been asked to use Minoxidil (as expected and rightly so!) as well as tablet Dutasteride as well as an Oral Biotin supplement.
Dutasteride is not my choice (though it would work similar to finasteride but this molecule is not yet approved for androgenetic alopecia). It can have side effects like decreased libido. You can discuss with your treating doctor about this side effect.
My choice in you would have been Finasteride, as previously mentioned
Biotin supplements assist in hair regrowth and act as a hair vitamin. Though it is not specific treatment for androgenetic alopecia. However, since your dermatologist has also kept a diagnosis of Telogen effluvium therefore Biotin is justified in your case.
Shampoo is for daily cleansing and volumizing effects on hair.
