Suggest Treatment For Severe Heartburn And Diarrhea
Question: I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder two weeks ago. Last week, I had severe heartburn and diarrhea twice, 4 days apart. Doctor gave me cipro. I tried to play tennis yesterday and my arm was surprisingly weak; my shoulder and arm are quite sore. I stopped cipro yesterday after what I read about tendon/ligament issues for women over 60. Last night I was up again with diarrhea and this time I threw up. this is miserable. Is there any possible connection? How long do I have to wait to play tennis to avoid possible tendon damage?
Brief Answer:
Cipro gives stomach problems, so it may be caused by it.

Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.
Cipro bothers the stomach if you take it for long time or with empty stomach.
I would say avoid physical activity at least 24-48 hours after the last dose of cipro.
Drink plenty of fuids to avoid getting dehydrated.
Take ranitidine 150 mg twice/day for 1-2 weeks so the stomach heals completely.
Hope this helps.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
