Suggest Treatment For Severe Itching On The Legs And Dry Skin

Question: My Wife Is having itchying of skin in Legs from past 2 months it is more in legs and less in Upper Part of the Body.she is Having Dry Skin.
Could you please suggest
What Could be the reason of itchying of skins in Legs?
Do we need to perform any Test?
What Can be applied to the Skin to prevent Itching?

I a dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

She seems to be suffering from Xerosis i.e extreme dryness of skin.
Dry skin is prone to itching.
She may take a thyroid test to rule out any underlying causer for dryness of skin.
She may use a urea or ammonium lactate based moisturizer e.g Ureativ 20% cream Or Amylac Lotion for twice daily application.

Currently She is on some medication planning to Become Pregnant .Is ist safe to take the cream Ureativ 20% cream Or Amylac Lotion that you have suggested during medication.
we have done Thyroid Test 6 Months back it was XXXXXXX Should we do once again whether results would get impacted within span of 6 months
