Suggest Treatment For Severe Joints Pain And Swelling On The Legs
Question: Dear Sir,
My mother is having severe pain in all joints, especially in ankle joints and knee joints. Both the legs are swelling in the morning.
She can’t able to do any work even she can’t stand for 10 mins.
Please help me sir,
What could be the problem?
Which specialist I need to consult?

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,
I have gone through your question in detail and understand your concern.
I think she is having a systemic (general problem). She need to consult probably Physician(internal medicine). Her problem seems me to be related to heart disease as she is having generalized swelling. She need to undergo following tests.
1.Heart function test such as ECG and Echocardiography to rule out heart function test.
2.Kidney function test(blood urea and serum creatinine) to see kidney functions.
3.Thyroid function test(T3,T4and TSH) to rule out thyroid disease.
4.Serum uric acid to exclude gout.
5.Rhematoid factor test,ESR and c reactive protein to exclude rheumatoid arthritis.
6.X ray of both knees and ankle to see degenerative arthritis(osteoarthritis)
7.Vitamin D test to rule out vitamin D3 deficiency.
You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.
