Suggest Treatment For Severe Leg Pain

Question: Dr XXXXXXX
I asked you your opinion about seeing a neurologist & you agreed. I have been having severe attacks of "leg pain"for the past 3 months. It was sciatic in nature, but I was told this was not a case of sciatica. This appointment is in 10 days.
I am still feeling pain at various levels throughout my left buttocks and travelling down my left leg.The pain in my buttocks making sitting or lying down very painful.
If the pain is in my ankles, it feels as if someone is stabbing my left ankle with a very hot iron.
I am not taking any medication for this pain.
The MRI and the X-rays that have been taken show no damage nor abnormalities.
Yet the pain persists.
Do you have any suggestions for the pain management?

Brief Answer:
Neuropathic pain medications would help.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for getting back.
I have noted your symptoms.
To relieve the pain, you could take medications such as pregabalin, gabapentin or duloxetine capsules.
If you were my patient, I would have started pregabalin 75 mg twice daily or gabapentin 300 mg twice daily.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD (Internal Medicine), DM (Neurology) XXXXXXX Consultant Neurologist
