Brief Answer:
It can be severe lower back muscle spasm or acute disc injury or both

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. There can be either severe lower back muscle spasm which you are having or an acute lower back disc injury.

2. A muscle spasm is due to sudden contraction of muscles and this improves slowly over a week with application of ointment containing pain reliever and muscle relaxant. Rest from heavy physical activity is suggested.

3. A disc problem will not improve much with time and the symptoms depend on severity of injury. This can take weeks or months to improve with recommended therapy.

4. Sometimes a person can have severe muscle spasm and disc injury at the same time.

5. It is suggested that you allow yourself sufficient rest from heavy physical activity and start applying pain reliever and muscle relaxant ointment or sprays. If there is no improvement in 3 days then please consult your doctor urgently and probably get a lumbar spine MRI scan done.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
