Suggest Treatment For Severe Lower Back Pain And Toe Numbness
Question: I had upper back pain and now I have lower back pain and it is painful when I sit for long. Also I feel my left leg (foot) the first two fingers numb when I stand for long. I have the pain around the hip.
I have burning sensation around the upper back. I went to Doc and they did the x-ray for upper back (as I had no lower back pain)
I have the lower back pain some times feels like the hip joint on left leg near pelvic bon or upper groin area, its like an ache. Its not throbbing pain, but a pain which is continues. When I change posture the pain subsides, as well as hot and cold compress makes it go away for a while.
Also when I went to m annual health check couple of days ago i had the upper back pain and the X-ray shows no issues.
Narrative:
Spine, thoracic , 4 views.
Clinical data: Evaluate T6-7 for bony abnormality .
COMPARISON: None .
FINDINGS: No fracture, dislocation, subluxation, or paraspinal soft tissue
swelling is evident . There is minimal dorsal scoliosis of thoracic spine with
7 degrees of curvature measured from superior endplate of T5 to inferior
endplate of T11, apex at T7. No osseous abnormality seen in mid thoracic spine.
No significant degenerative changes. Several rounded dense foci project over
the superior aspect of left first rib on frontal view which are not seen in
lateral view. Possibly supraclavicular calcified nodes versus overlying foreign
body.
Impression:
IMPRESSION:
1. No acute osseous injury evident .
2. Mild dextroscoliosis of thoracic spine.
3. Dense foci projecting superior to left first rib on frontal view may
represent overlying foreign body versus calcified left supraclavicular nodes, in
which case evidence of old granulomatous disease.
But I have now the lower back pain, not sure if there is anything wrong. I work sitting a lot, I didn't do anything strange which I will hurt my back.
Can you help ?

3)Any other disease or past medical history?
Though, with the details you have provided,it appears to be lumbo-sacral radiculopathy causing your symptoms. However, with the above details,I shall be able to comment better on it.

1)Any history of tingling in legs?
Not at all and I feel the numbness only when I stand up if there is any.
2)Is there any pain, associated while having movements at hip joint?
No pain while movement
3)Any other disease or past medical history?
None
Also if i do hot and cold the pain goes off for a while. And I can stretch and pull it doesn't hurt, If I sit it hurts lower back.
lumbo-sacral radiculopathy - is it bad? I am a bit more worried now...

Brief Answer:
MRI L-S Spine should be done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing further details.
In view of the clinical history,as provided by you, I suggest you to please undergo a MRI of Lumbo-sacral spine. This is essential to rule out the degenerative spine changes, with possible lumbo-sacral radicular involvement, which appears to be the likely cause of your symptoms.
If it comes out to be lumbo-sacral radiculopathy indeed, it appears to be of early stage depending on the symptoms, and should improve with medicines and spinal exercises. Please follow-up after getting the MRI done.
Hope it helps. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
