Question: when walking either up hill or in the mall for instance..my lower back feels very fatigured. I am 59 years of age, sit for long hours at work, & have a gut. Could the weight around my mid section cause my back issues?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using our service. First of all, lower back pain and fatigue could be secondary to osteoarthritis of the back, irritation of the sciatic nerve due to bulging disc or just a muscle spasm. Patients like you that need to sit for long hours, need to have a very good back support and change positions to avoid chronic pressure in your back. It is important to stand up at list 15 minutes every 2 hours and stretch your body. The possibility of gout is low because it is mostly in the joints like big toe, knee and ankles. I recommend you to have a lower back xray to check vertebra . Overweight also worsen the back pain.
I hope my answer will be helpful.
