Question: Hello Dr XXXX . I have severe low back pain for the past 2 weeks and difficulty walking at times due to increase sharp pain radiating to my right buttocks and front of my right thigh . I am concerned because when I press on my muscles right thigh its also painful . When walking I have a fear that my hip or femur might break .I have a hx of Graves disease and osteoporosis . Do you recommend exercises or will it make the condition worse ? I feel more secure wearing a back brace to prevent sudden sharp pain .

Brief Answer:
avoid exercise and go for tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi
i am concerned because of your age and associated osteoporosis.
Graves disease also increase osteoporosis. and osteoporosis can increase chance of fracture.
This pain may be due to minor trivial fracture or may be just a spasm but it is prudent that you should go for at least X ray LS spine to rule out any obvious problem. Until unless you rule out any fracture, avoid exercise as it may increase your problem.

meanwhile you can continue pain killers..like paracetamol
Hope this will

Take care
