Suggest Treatment For Severe Lower Respiratory Tract Infection
Question: Hi...i am suffering from severe cough and greenish thick mucus discharge all round the day. i have been taking levofloxacin 500 once a day(morning) and Diominic DCA (night) for last 3 days. But theres no relief. Please advice. Thanks

1.I m having it for last 5 days
2.No breathlessness
3.very mild fever sometimes , no weight loss ...no night sweats
4.No diabetes
5.I m not a smokerbut i do chew tobacco sometimes.
6. I have BP and i take amtas e daily + ecosprin 75....no other major past illnes

1. Chest Xray
2. Sputum for Gram stain and fungal.
3. Hemogram with ESR.
After giving samples I start my patients on following:
1. A broad spectrum antibiotic like Augmentin or Cefuroxime.
2. An anti allergic like Levocetrizine.
3. A Bronchodilator syrup like Bromohexine.
I modify treatment according to reports.
You can discuss my opinion with your doctor. I am sure he would agree to it.
