Suggest Treatment For Severe Mental Illness

Question: who could I see about a chronic mental illness a family member has so that I can cope

If possible Can I please get something other than counseling is required advice, like what kinds of effects a family member who has an illness causes for mothers. My sons father has practically abandoned him and his step dad is helpful/caring but has not nearly the heart ache I experience because of this crisis.

I would like to know what some optimistic outlooks could be for me too. If not then what type of counselor specifically should I seek?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

It is clear that caring for your son has taken a significant toll on your mental health. However, I believe that with psychotherapy, you can feel better. I recommend seeking out supportive psychotherapy with either a social worker, psychologist, or psychiatrist. The advantage of a psychiatrist is that he or she could evaluate you for potential medication, for example considering if an antidepressant might help you. However, any of these providers would be able to help you discuss your difficulties.
