Suggest Treatment For Severe Muscle Cramps And Swelling In Thigh
Muscle cramp and swelling
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Normally, muscle cramps resolve with NSAIDs and muscle relaxant use in a day or two if mild and a 4 to 5 days if moderate to severe. Swelling of the lower limb despite NSAID use with tenderness should prompt ruling out Deep vein thrombosis as a cause. A doppler ultrasound of the lower limbs can be advised in case there is suspicion or overt swelling of the area. If no thrombus is visualized and the blood supply is intact then NSAIDs like diclofenac, muscle relaxants like tizanidine, topical voltral gel, bed rest and physiotherapy are the options that should be continued.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
