Suggest Treatment For Severe Nasal Congestion
Question: My nose is congested and when I take meds it clears up for a short time. Then it stops up again. I went to the doctor and they said I had strep throat but my throat is not bothering me. My nose being congested is the problem.
Brief Answer:
You have rhinitis, probably allergic!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.
I have reviewed your information fully. Of course, it is not typical to have sore throat without throat pain. Your symptoms seem suggestive of allergic rhinitis. This is caused by inflammation in the nose caused by allergy in the environment. I will recommend Benadryl for this. I will not recommend amoxicillin as this is certainly not caused by an infection.
I hope this guides and helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

I live in a basement apartment and do a lot of construction. We get a heavy amount of dust. Could that be the problem?
Brief Answer:
Yes, this is very much a contributing factor!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Your job and home are suggestive. If the basement is cold and not well light, you may want to get it regularly ventilated. At work, always put on a protective mast to at least reduce exposure to this.
I wish you well.
