Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain And Inflammation Of The Sciatic Nerve

There are good treatments available.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms and agree that you are almost disabled on account of severe nerve-related pain.
There are good medications available to receive the neuropathic pain, which include pregabalin, gabapentin and duloxetine capsules.
If pain does not subside, and MRI spine should be done to look for nerve compression. Then, physiotherapy with IFT/ultrasound and traction could help.
In very refractory cases, epidural steroid injections are also given.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,

Thank you for your input. Just this information is a real morale booster. I've never before experienced or appreciated how such chronic pain can alter one's quality of life. An analogy would be the quote from XXXXXXX Clemens - Mark Twain - in the 19th century, "nothing focuses the mind like a tooth ache".
Up until the last week, I thought that the condition would resolve on its own, but no such luck. There definitely is no "toughing it out" at my age. I was hesitant to see an MD because I was told by friends, all laymen, that the only course of action was the series of steroid injections.
Thank you again,
XXXX
Wish you speedy recovery
