Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain At Lesion Site Post Biopsy

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jan 2017
Question: I had a pylogenomic granuloma (benign) removed last Tuesday. It was a shave biopsy and it was cauterized. The doctor sais we did not want it to scab and that it would heal just fine. It HAS scabbed and it's very red and swollen in the surrounding area. It is extremely painful. It is in a fold of skin on my stomach, so sitting or bending over is very painful. The pain is sharp and stabbing. Is there anything I can do for the pain and do I need any other care. I really don't want to have to wait for the next clinic visit. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Secondary infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.

I have gone through your medical history and the attached photograph in detail.

The surrounding skin around the lesion seems to be secondarily infected.
It is pretty red and swollen and shows signs of non-healing.
By now,the lesion should have healed completely and there should have been no signs of inflammation. But,unfortunately,it hasn't.

Application of Mupirocin ointment locally can help.

Do not rub or apply anything warm on the lesion.

Take anti-inflammatory tablets like paracetamol and fibrinolytic medicines like trypsin/chymotrypsin/serratiopeptidase etc.

A 3 day course of a broad spectrum antibiotic will help accelerate the healing process.

Incomplete excision of the lesion during the procedure can also lead to such symptoms.I suggest you to consult the doctor who has performed the procedure upon you to rule out any anticipated complication.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any doubts that you may have.

Thank you.

Kind regards.
