Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain Caused By Kidney Stones
Kidney stones
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with kidney stones. They can be very painful. The best treatment here is to drink lots of fluids to help push the stone out. The pain is not from the stone blocking the urethra but cause by back up pressure of the stone blocking the ureter. This is the tube from your kidney to the bladder. There is no medication to help stop the spasms. I do think that by relaxing the pain that the ureter will stop spasms and allow passage of the stone. I recommend that you go to the ER. They can start off giving you Toradol for pain and then more powerful medication if needed. There is no over the counter medication that I would recommend as they can actually worsen your condition.
In summary
1. drink plenty of fluids
2. Toradol injection
3. More powerful medication if needed
