However in 5 days with very little appetite I have gained 7 lbs in 5 days. no appetite because I have severe pain in my left back and leg and right back pain around 9-10th rib. Question : I am not peeing very much 2-3 times per day and I take 100 Torsemide in am and 100 Torsemide at 5pm. What is going on? I do have kidney issues with the chf. We are in Florida. My doctors are in Hershey PA at the XXXXXXX State Hershey medical Center. Should I go home. Sincerely, XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

First, I don't think you should go home right now unless your are feeling quite well, which I assume you are not, as your health isn't stable yet. Instead, are you near a credible health center such as a university hospital? Do any of your local friends have good internists or family practice physicians (or cardiologists) that you can get in to see soon? And if not for an office appointment, then go in to an immediate care center at a credible health center (such as a university hospital). While there, you can sign a release for records from your own dr. to be faxed or sent electronically.

Now about what is going on with you: Even if you are not having lower leg swelling, the fluid is going somewhere as you are gaining weight.

I strongly advise you to go in where they can examine you, listen to your lungs (and maybe get a chest xray) and draw labs, including for kidney function (BUN, creatinine) and calculate your GFR (glomerular filtration rate). Also a blood sugar. Provide them with the history you have given here.

Please do go in soon as the symptoms you described should not be ignored, or evaluation delayed.

Thank you for your answer. I do think I will take your advice this morning and go to an ER before starting the 2 day trip home. Nothing has changed and I really do not feel well. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Good plan

Detailed Answer:
Travel is stressful on the body and it is best not to do so when your health is unstable. So I think this is a good plan. You may need an Echo of your heart to see what is going on, too. And while the fluid isn't in your feet, it may be in your low back or other dependent areas.

I hope you are able to get this sorted out quickly.

Best regards.
