Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Gluteal Region

1. Is heat better than ice? How often?
2. What else should I take right now? Should I stretch any"
3. Should I give it a rest or go to the inside track I use and walk a little?
4. Should I get an MRI?
5 In the past, a pain management doc gave me trigger point injections in my back...Can I do that again?
Treatment with NSAID, rest and muscle relaxers should be tried first.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your questions and understand your concerns.
The symptoms you describe seems to be muscular related, but nerve pain could not be excluded definitely.
1. In your case heat is better than ice, 3-4 times a day for few days.
2. You can use both muscle relaxers and Advil for a couple of days.
3. Rest instead of exercising few days.
4. If the symptoms persist after few days, even with above mentioned measures, you should look for further investigations (neurologic examination and lumbar column MRI) in order to evaluate other possible causes of your symptoms such herniated disc disease, degenative spine disease etc.
5. Trigger point injections could be tried as a possible symptomatic treatment if symptoms persist after above treatments.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.
Take care.

I also have some Lidoderm patches and some Voltaren gel. Are they ok to use after the heat treatment? Ill try that Advil with the musc relaxers.
Is stretching ok now? It hurts bad in that glute area and upper thigh when I sit down...(not the sitting itself) and if I bend over to pick something up....or should I wait on the stretching? Is resting it this weekend better?
Thank you
Better rest.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
In my opinion, treatment measures mentioned previously should be sufficient to improve your symptoms.
You can use Voltaren gel after warm procedures too, it is fine.
As I mentioned before, rest for few days is best at this moment.
Hope I helped you.
Best regards.
