Question: I have taken Xanax for over 10 yrs, I reached a dose that continues to work for me, no desireed for any extra meds. since then in 2008 I was in a terrible auto accident when I was hit by an uninsured motorist doing major Facet damage, Si damage on both sides, running down to my knees, and a tilting and rotating pelvis which cases bone pain as well as nerve burning. I, eventually was sent to a pain treatment center after having every injection known to man, with no positive results. My pain Dr. has perscribed 1 and 1/2 lortab(10mg) up to 3 time a day. She knows all the other meds I take but only the 2 meds during the day. The transportation cabinet in XXXXXXX KY wants to take my drivers license even though I do not take the pain meds., if I need to drive, I only take the pain meds after I am home for the day. If I have somewhere I have to go I have someone that drives me. I have testified under oath that this is the case yet they still want to take my license. Do you have any suggestions to help me I am very conciensious (sp) about my medication. I take 1 mg of Xanax at AM, 1 mg at approx. 1:00 and 3/4 of 1 mg at bedtime. which is the dose I have been on for 10 yrs, as I said before. Any helpful suggestions?

Brief Answer:
have you tried non opioid drugs

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You can shift from lortab ( hydrocodone + acetaminophen) to some thing non opioid like tapentadol, aceclofenac, or even diclofenac as you take pain medicine once in a while. Your treating doctor will know about those.

But as far as Xanax (alprazol ) is concerned the only way is to either get the blood drug levels and show the report to transportation dept or stop taking the medicine.

My blood levels with xanax are documented to be below the Ky State Police peramiters even if I take twice the dosage I currently take. Stopping the medication afterworking with so many different meds.to get here, is not an option. Have tried Cybalta, and other meds for pain but most have had odd side effects as most were originally perscribed for depression, seizures, etc. Lortab is perscribed to take 3 times a day & I try to only take twice, per 24 hrs. any better suggestions??!!

Brief Answer:
hi,

Detailed Answer:
Hi, sorry then. Even I run out of optuons then. The analgesic medicine i told you previously are not related to depression but purely analgesic. Try them once and see if they help. If cause side effects stop them
