Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Forearms

Question: Hi after a session of working out I awoke mid night with pain in my elbow wrist and forearm. I feel as though there is extreme pressure on my wrist. If I even slightly bend it back it creates a sharp pain. I feel pain my forearm anytime I supinate my arm. My elbow is constantly cracking. This has been going on for almost 6 months. I have tried conservative measures ie rest ice heat, nothing works. I have seen many dr's. I have gotten an mri on my shoulder neck and elbow all came back negative expect my neck which indicated herniated on the opposite side of my body (the right side came back positive for herniated disc and I am dealing with all these issues on my left side.) I went for an emg and nerve conduction test both came back negative for any entrapment. I got 2 rounds of prp in my elbow and forearm area. Most drs think I am dealing with tennis elbow. However, I think it is a nerve injury. Anytime I attempt to stretch or do light rehab work the injury flares up leaving me in pain. As for my elbow cracking upon further investigation I am starting to think it my triceps and not elbow. I really think I have ulnar nerve entrapment and from what I read this condition can mimic the signs of tennis elbow. Are there any other ways to check for an entrapped nerve besides an emg and ncs. Perhaps an mri of the wrist of triceps. Also is it unusual to get a second emg and ncs? Thank you in advance for your time.

Brief Answer:
Nerve compression not likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Since your nerve conduction test has come negative this is less likely to be a nerve compression. EMG and NCS are the best tests to rule out any nerve or muscle related pathologies. The symptoms can be due to tendonitis- tendon inflammation at the elbow which is more of a clinical diagnosis. MRI scan of elbow can show a tendon inflammation. if the physical therapy is not helping then local steroid shot might be an option.
Rest and avoiding all the painful activities is a must. Hot compress and local analgesic gel will also help.
I hope this answers your query.
