Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Pelvic Area After A Fall
Question: Father is 99. He fell and hit his head ( back of head) about 7 months ago. Since then, some shoulder and neck pain. Also short term memory.Dull, constant pain on left side, from rib cage to front pelvic area. Also, his eyesight is rapidly declining. Has cataracts. Was wondering if pain and vision problem are related.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern about your father.
If by related you mean that the pain and vision issues are related to each other then the answer is no, they involve different anatomical regions, are not related to each other.
If they are related to the fall of 7 months age, the pain can certainly be, if it started after the fall then it should be the most likely cause. At his age he would be very vulnerable to fractures which even if minor would not heal well and leave some pain.
As for whether there could be a relation between the vision issue and the fall that depends on how symptoms have evolved. Head trauma may cause damage to the occipital lobes which are responsible for vision and hence lead to vision loss. So can on the other hand cataract. The best way to differentiate between them apart from fancy imaging tests would be the history of the vision loss. If due to brain damage from trauma it would happen there and then, in a sudden manner after the trauma. If due to the cataract then it would be a gradual progression over months/years. So if the later case then no reason to suspect it being related to the trauma.
