Hello and thank you for asking HCM.

I read your symptoms and my response is as follows:

Pain in the upper left quadrant that irradiates in your back doesn't mean pancreatic cancer. I understand that this diagnosis is what scares people the most and I understand your concern.

Firstly, I would say not to worry so much. There are no facts and symptoms to support a pancreatic cancer as a diagnose. The pain that you describe might be due to a problem with stomach (gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux, gastric ulcer etc.) or even a stone in your left kidney might give the same pain as you describe. Also in that position where you describe the pain, are the small and the large intestine. It might even be a pain from your large intestine, when it has problems to pass the stools (or even if you have diverticula of the large intenstine you might have the similar pain)..

According to your question, about other symptoms, Yes, after 3 years, if it was a pancreatic cancer you would have a lot of other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, drastic loss in weight, jaundice, anemia, changes in blood tests, liver enzymes, pancreatic enzymes...

Since you are doing a CT scan, I suggest you do some blood tests just to be sure everything is working fine: liver tests, pancreatic tests, urine test.

Meanwhile try to have a healthy diet, this way you will help your whole body:

-low fat diet
-fresh fruits and vegetables
-plenty of water
-no alcohol (if for some reason this can't be done, than you can have a glass of red wine)
-normal exercise, yoga, walking in the parks
-no stress

I am sure, that the results of your CT scan will be normal, or at least will show that you do not have pancreatic cancer, or other type of cancer, because with just the pain as a symptom....it doesn't correlate with cancer.

For any other question that you have, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Wishing you the best.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome Back,

The pain that you have might be influenced by stress. Let me put it this way, stress can make the bowels, stomach move faster and this gives pain. Also stress rises the amount of acid present in your stomach.

So yes stress might be an option. Also even a problem with stomach, gastritis, ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux, have this symptoms than gives pain and than for 1 or 2 or even more no pain, no symptoms. Than after some months, patients feel pain.

After the CT-scan is done, I'd suggest you to go for an esophago-gastroduodenoscopy to check your stomach and the next part of the stomach. This way you will have nothing to be worried any more and you will have no reason to have any more stress and live a long and happy life.

Best Regards.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to be worried

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back dear,

Probably it is acid. None of the symptoms correlate with cancer. or at least there is no possibility for to have cancer from past 3 years and to have only Pain that comes and goes .

Wishing you all the best.
