Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Ribs
Question: My boss when he coughs or sneezes a muscle or something pops out of the right side just under the rib cage and he has to push it back in... it is very painful and he has been to 2 doctors and they don't know what it is. About 7 years ago he bent over and lifted a trailer and believes that the skin and muscle separated from rib cage and now it's just flexing
Brief Answer:
Get done chest x ray and ultrasound examination of local part.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Musculoskeletal pain is more likely.
He might be having poorly stabilized rib due to weak muscular attachments because of incident happened 7 years back.
So get done chest x ray and ultrasound examination of local part for muscular instability.
He can wear rib belt to prevent थी kind of popping.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your boss. Thanks.

It is not the rib. The rib is secure because I work out often and am athletic. I believe that it is muscular and the skin has pulled away from the rib due to my injury 7 years ago. I have also had gall bladder surgury. I have an incision there where it pops out. Could this be a self inflicted hernia? I had a second operation (exploratory) they went into the underside of the area and could find nothing. I believe that it is on the top side between my stomach and and rib cage. Could this be? Please advice.
Brief Answer:
Yes, possibility of incisional hernia is more.

I can understand your concern.
You had surgical Scar over that area, possibility of incisional hernia is more.
Incisional hernia usually contains fat.
So if you are asymptomatic then nothing should be done.
But if you are having pain or increasing size then you will need surgical correction of hernia.
Get done ultrasound examination of local part to confirm incisional hernia.
If you can send me pictures of your Scar then I would be of great help.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
