Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Right Buttock
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I have had extreme pain on my right buttock and the bone at the top of the buttock for six weeks or so. I had an MRI 3-4 weeks ago which the report based on that said it was negative for any indication of the cause of the pain. I saw my pain management doctor last week and he said he could feel a ganglion cyst, and said these cysts tend to come and go over time. I cannot bend over without having a breath taking sharp pain and it is painful to walk, get up and down, drive, pretty much any movement. I had a lumbar fusion of L4-5 and L5-S1 in 2009. Unfortunately, it was a failed back surgery. I also have osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, degenerative disks, spinal stenosis, scoliosis. Can you please advise me on anything I can or should do to help with this situation. Thanks, XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Do physiotherapy and visit orthopedic surgeon.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through the query.
In my opinion, two important things which are missing in your treatment are physiotherapy as its utmost importance in your case.
Other is having duloxetine tablet which can cure all that pain, it needs prescription as its not over the counter.
I don't known which ganglion cyst you are taking about, which goes and come own its own.
In my opinion you must visit orthopedic surgeon and, discuss all with him, he will do your physical examination and act accordingly.
He may also advise you brace if needed.
I hope it helps.
Thanks,

My pain management doctor is who said it was a ganglion cyst and that he had seen it in several of his patients. I also asked him if the other patients had been in as much pain and he said they did. Everything I could find on line says that they normally need to be removed surgically. My pain management doctor wants me to go through him before seeing another doctor.
Brief Answer:
Ofcourse you can go through him before seeing orthopedic surgeon.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the response.
No problem, you can discuss all that with your pain management doctor, he can also understand all which I told you.
But I am again saying that if pain is unbearable than you must visit orthopedic surgeon, even if its due to ganglion or cysthairline only orthopedic surgeon can do your surgery, this is well known to your pain management doctor also.
Wishing you good health and best of luck.
