Question: severe pain right shoulder blade lets up but returns started this morning as a slight pain got progressively worse till it is almost constant

I think you have just muscle pain and it will be better soon. You need to follow these steps.
1.hot water fomentation
2.Avoid using very big pillow
3.Tablet Advil or Brufen 400 mg twice daily.
4.if pain persist then you can get steroid injection in shoulder joint.
