Question: I was cleaning my lid with Clorox and thought I rinsed it out but to my dismay I drank some Iced Tea and my throat started to hurt really bad. So bad I am not going into work since I haven't been able to sleep.

Brief Answer:
As discussed in details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Advil should have helped you.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Take sips of lukewarm plain water as it helps soothing the throat and keeps it moist.
If there is burning sensation in throat, you can try honey if you have got at home.
The products for numbing throat contains anesthetic gel or jelly or in liquid form and may need a prescription; please ask the Pharmacy if there is any OTC product. Getting throat examined by a Doctor helps to pin-point the cause.
Fumes of Clorox may also be the factor and taking sips of water helps to dissolve the effects.
Iced tea usually does not cause such pain although it may be possible rarely, may be due to local irritation and/or muscle spasms.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

No question but I wanted to clear up any misunderstanding. I had the tea in the container that I used the lid for it. So I threw out the tea and setting up for a 2nd try after they are thoroughly clean from our dishwasher. So there won't be anything else if I can get the pain to stop.
