Suggest Treatment For Severe Persistent Cough Along With Sore Throat And Fever
5 days back I had sore throat and fever in the night. Next day morning i was coughing hard and having burning pain in the throat and it was very hard to spit the phelgm as it was too hard. I went to GP and he advised me to take clavam 625, montek LC, P650 and mucolite cough syrub for three days. After two days the fever and the pain in throat has come down but my phelgm was too hard and every day morning my nose would block. Then he suggested me to take mucinac 600 and mucolite capsule for 3 days . I was having a little bit pain and swelling in the left side of the neck below my jaw. He told it could be due to infection.
Presently the cough is very hard and a little pain is still prevailing. Also, my ears seems to be blocked some time and I need to blow my nose to open it, also when i open my jaw wide a little pain come on the left side of the head above the ear.
I am a smoker and chew tobacco too. I am worried if it is something else other that normal flu. Please suggest.
I had sinus surgery a year back and have cervical spondolytes in C6.
Seems EUSTACHIAN TUBE DYSFUNCTION
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. The symptoms reported seem concerning and I will recommend that you see a doctor and get evaluated.
With such presentation, I would perform ENT examination, otoscopy (retracted ear drum), audiometry (Eustachian tube block- tube connecting middle ear and nose).
It is common in severe cold, flu and cough. You may require antihistamines, systemic decongestants and nasal decongestant drops. I will recommend you see a nearby ENT surgeon. He/she will know about the evaluation (investigations).
I also advise you to stop smoking, to do valsalva maneuver (watch you tube video), stop consuming freezer products (curd/ice cream).
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
Sorry I forgot to tell you that I was operated for sinus (FESS) a year ago . I visited my ENT today I told that my nose is producing lot of hard phelgm.

1.Yes. It is possible to get nasal polyp (post surgery)- recurrence of polyposis is common in patients who will not take medical treatment.
2. In winter season, due to cold breeze, allergy is common in some.
3. Surgical interventions may require in some depending on size, extent of polyp.
4. you need (allergic rhinitis individuals) to take precautions like
a. Regular follow-up ( 3-6months), to prevent polyp recurrence
b. Avoid sneezes, dry cough -needs anti allergic medications.
c. avoid smoking, avoid consuming freezed food products (curd/ice cream).
5. Nasal irrigation helps in clearing clogged mucus.
6. Cepodem Xp 325 (cepodoxime + clavulanic acid) , combiflam (brufen + paracetamol), allerid and duonase nasal spray (anti allergic) combination, best works for sinusitis secondary to allergy.
